September 2026This is a fantastic house for a multi-generation family holiday and grand family celebrations. Especially if you like outdoor activities within walking distance and easy driving. In the house there is plenty of space for all ages to enjoy time together without impacting others. The grandchildren loved the cave with beanbags, tv and PlayStation as well as masses of board games. The adults loved the snooker table and very comfortable sitting room. Everyone enjoyed eating alfresco with stunning views of the valley, Matlock and beyond. The kitchen has excellent equipment for preparing and cooking large family meals. All the bedrooms and bathrooms were spotlessly clean and very comfortable. I would thoroughly recommend this house to others.

July 2026We have had the most wonderful family get together at Highfield and have made many happy memories there.
From entering the courtyard, we were all in awe.
A lovely welcome hamper greeted us.
The property itself was perfect for our group of ages 2 to 82, with so many spaces both inside and out to relax, congregate, play games, read in peace or take in the breathtaking views over Riber Castle, Crich Memorial Tower and Matlock itself.
Catering was a dream with large fridge/freezer, pantry, fabulous rangemaster and more than enough utensils, crockery, glasses etc.
The snooker/dining hall is a wonderful space for both formal dining and socialising.
The sleeping quarters worked perfectly for us and the area is incredibly peaceful so you are sure to get a restful night’s sleep.
Matlock itself has everything you would need. Highlights for us were the Bakery by sourdough Dave and Ginger Butchers farm shop.
We wouldn’t hesitate to book again. Strongly recommended!

House excellent, views outstanding and the good weather was the icing on the cake.

August 2026The house was spotlessly clean and very well equipped, especially the kitchen, which even had baby bowls and spoons—a lovely touch for families with young children.
The host was fantastic with communication. Despite not living in England, he replied straight away when we couldn’t find the travel cot, which was really appreciated.
Our only small criticism was the 10am checkout, as it felt a little rushed, especially with the cleaning team arriving around 9:30am.
Overall, a fantastic property in a beautiful location. We’d definitely recommend it and would happily stay again.

August 2026The house was perfect for a large family group, with plenty of spacious areas for everyone to relax, spend time together and enjoy each other’s company. The views over the Peak District were absolutely incredible and really made the stay special.
There was also plenty to keep everyone entertained, especially on the rainy days. The games, pool table and large TV were great additions and meant we always had something to do together.
The house was very well located for exploring the surrounding area, and the kitchen was extremely well stocked with everything we needed for such a large group.
Overall, we had a fantastic stay and would definitely recommend this property to other large families or groups looking for a comfortable, well-equipped and relaxing getaway. We would happily stay here again!

September 2026A perfect house for a family get together. We felt comfortable as soon as we arrived. The view is amazing, the bedrooms all very comfortable and the various living areas gave us so many options. Everyone had a fabulous time.

August 2026We absolutely loved our stay! As a large family group of 17 with mix of adults and children the house was perfect. Very spacious and plenty of outdoor and indoor areas to socialise in a large group. The house was beautifully maintained and very clean.
All the bedrooms were large and well laid out – we were also able to ask for different layouts in each which was very helpful. The kitchen was incredibly well stocked and even with 17 people we never ran out of glasses, plates, cutlery etc. Large range cooker was also great for group cooking. Outdoor areas were especially great as we were staying in summer. Views are beautiful and the location is ideal with easy drive or walk into Matlock town centre.
Andrew and his team were great hosts, all necessary information was provided ahead of time and any questions were answered straight away. Would definitely highly recommend this property!

July 2026This house is in an great location, amazing views, lots of space.
We were a female group of 12 celebrating a birthday, we spent a lot of time outside as weather was fantastic, great space for alfresco dining and entertaining, chatting, chilling and playing games.
Andrew was a very friendly host always responsive to messages. Recommend for large groups.
